This morning my car died so I called AAA. Four hours later, I'm looking out my window for the tow truck and a little old lady passes out right next to my dead car. a firetruck, two ambulances, and a tow truck all arrived at the same time. The lady is fine now. My car however, may have seen it's last day.

movies movies movies
since I've started my love affair with netflix, I've gotten a lot of style inspirations from various characters in movies:
FACTORY GIRL - the story of edie sedgwick: socialite, friend to andy warhol, and lover of bob dylan. Although I didn't really love this movie, I thought edie's fashion was ill. black tights, huge dangley earrings, thick black eye liner. I've always had a thing for late 50's early 60's fashion, but I'm like ABSOLUTELY FREAKING OUT about how great it is now. Behold the real edie:
THE GRADUATE - listed in every cinematicians top 100 films. Dustin Hoffman stars as an old-money ivy league all-star grad home from school and lost in life. The movie follows him as he floats through summer, an affair with the wife of his fathers business partner, and ultimately an epic chase to win the heart of elaine, daughter of said business partner. Although the fashion in this movie isn't entirely noteworthy, elaine's suede trench has got me feenin'. above all, the general aesthetic of the film is just breathtaking:
sedmikrasky - or daisies in english, is a czech surrealist film about 2 sisters who see that the world has gone bad, and decide to go bad with it. It's a story of binging and purging, creating and destroying, excess and nothingness. Ultimately it's a political commentary, but the imagery belongs in the MoMA:

if there was a problem yo I'll solve it...
my winter hat was getting stinky... stinky like my stinky stinky hair. I needed a quick fix, and I remembered what a very dear friend told me about de-stinking his jeans: put them in a freezer. sounded crazy, but I took my old hat put it in a plastic bag and tucked it away between the waffles and the vodka.
this morning I took it out and gave it a sniff... no more stink!

dress fail
I was watching the inauguration coverage and talking on the phone with my mom when holy shit!!?!?!?!?!
at first I thought it was a clip from regan's inauguration, but NO! Someone actually created this dress - in this decade! all of ABC network's sanity and good taste was clearly somewhere on the lost island because they allowed this burgundy nightmare to go to the inaugural ball. poor cynthia mcfadden.
I made mom run to the tv to check it out. tanya harding would be so jeal jeal. double axle triple gag.
also, it's nice to know the dynasty was there to represent.

Some things I learned in kindergarten
1. you are not any more or less special than any other human on this planet
2. demanding something unreasonable from a person is abusive and hurtful
3. if someone tells you 'no' you should respect their request
4. raising your voice does not make your point more valid
5. respect other people's space and the rules of other peoples houses
this goes for every part of life, what makes people think when they come in a store all the rules are null and void?
if you want to come into my store and make a return, all you have to do is remember these things... and I will be more than willing to accommodate you with a smile on my face.
if you want to forget all your manners and be a dick?
