west side walk it out
this morning I hoofed around the west side and came upon urban roots, buffalo's inner city community garden center located on the corner of w. utica and rhode island.
urban roots is a gardeners utopia in the midst of one of the more dilapidated parts of the city. Amazingly friendly staff, gorgeous variety of flowers, trees, shrubs, and vegetables plus all types of gardening equipment. I seriously was walking around getting a teary eyed.
at just three weeks old, is neighbor five points bakery. a completely beautiful bakery and cafe that made me want to jump behind the counter kneed some bread dough. I didn't sample any of the wares, but they looked pretty darn tempting.
please do yourself a service and pay these stores a visit.

jessica's a brat
as many of you know mommy has been sick sick sick lately! Doctors orders are to go on the b.r.a.t. diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce, and toast) to help with my "problem". well its been a week of being bratty, and now I have a fever and a sore throat on top of that other issue. and it's snowing. awesome.
however, there is light... guercio and sons grocery on grant street.
I've shopped here before many a time, but this is the first time I ever truly appreciated it. Not only are the prices nearly half those of wegmans and the lexington co-op, the quality is miles about price-rite, and the atmosphere is far more inviting.
not that I fancy myself a grocery store aficionado, but when you're buying 12lbs of bananas and a 10lb bag of organic brown rice it's nice to know it can be done for under $20.
don't get me wrong those other grocery store's are great too and all offer something different... but geurcio's has earned a firebrand gold star.

there's a little freegan in all of us...
I'm down with o.p.t... other peoples trash. here's a schedule for buffalo's 'big trash pick up'

I'll be throwing out some old junk and looting the curbs for buried treasure.

price-rite
price-rite is open and I'm really excited about it!
if I was this guy, I'd be even more exited. the produce section is awesome, people are really friendly, and it's just a sketchy parking lot away from my apartment.

monday monday

This morning my car died so I called AAA. Four hours later, I'm looking out my window for the tow truck and a little old lady passes out right next to my dead car. a firetruck, two ambulances, and a tow truck all arrived at the same time. The lady is fine now. My car however, may have seen it's last day.

christmas in clarence
Last weekend I went to the flea market with my dad. While wandering we stumbled upon Christmas in Clarence. Christmas trees, rides, Elves, fresh baked cookies, hot cocoa, a rustic barn, sleigh rides, light show, SANTA, magic, magic, magic.

(me and dad reflected in the old carnival mirror inside the barn)
Check it out this weekend... maybe you'll see me and my dad riding the Christmas Train or fighting over Santa's lap.

something wrong with bump and grind
a road-raging-assmilker has ruined my friday night and my shitty car. I was driving home from the burbs with chi chi when I noticed a tailgater in a pick-up truck. just as I said, 'look at how close this guy is driving to me', WHAMO! I got bumper-fucked. an intentional hit! then, said rager sped off at about 90mph. my first instinct was speed up and get this goons license plate, but my meager saab was no match to his hemi power. chi chi called 911 and we filed an accident and crime report with the police. now my back is sore and I can't sleep. only perk was I got to sit in the back of a police car for the first time.... I was mclovin' it.
and fyi, the back seat of police car doesn't have door handles... I never thought about that!
but in all seriousness, I'm glad me and my passenger are ok.
