price-rite is open and I'm really excited about it!

if I was this guy, I'd be even more exited. the produce section is awesome, people are really friendly, and it's just a sketchy parking lot away from my apartment.

unfortunately, there was a crime scene investigation today so I had to take a detour. never the less, I came home with a big bag of fresh food at a really good price.

I'm happy to have price-rite as my new neighbor.

all that I'm saying, is give peeps a chance.

of all the cuisines in the world, my mother's most favorite food is 'stale marshmallow peeps'. Only the yellow ones, and not the bunnies... just the chicks. She buys them by the crate-load every easter, pokes holes in all the boxes, and sets them on top of the fridge for weeks to achieve maximum staleness. i personally like my peeps frozen, but I have to admit, a stale peep is pretty good too. either way, every easter season in my family the word peep is on everybody's lips as in:

"I'm going to have ten peeps for dessert."
or
"five peeps is only 140 calories!"
or
"who bit the head of my peeps?!"
or more recently
"I can't stale my peeps in florida, it's too humid."

so distraught over the humidity was my mom last year, that I bought her a box of just borns, and I'm staling them right now on top of my refrigerator for when she gets home.

much of my childhood memory is laden with peeps. I have flashes of my mom walking over to the fridge, grabbing a box, and gently pinching the little peep heads to see if they were stale enough.

more vivid was the time I helped my father sabotage a box of peeps, by smearing them on the bathroom mirror and writing in lipstick something along the lines of 'REDRUM'. Other peep sabotage included, sticking a knife in the box, running them over with the car, and of course biting all the heads off. My father is a brutal man. I wouldn't be surprised if a bloody peep head showed up in her bed sheets at least once.

what you'll need:

For crepe taco shells:
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 to 3 teaspoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup flour
1/8 teaspoon salt

For chocolate syrup:
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
Dash of salt

Chocolate chip ice cream (vanilla also works)
1 cup peanuts

what to do:

Make the shell
fill it with chocolate
put ice cream
add nuts
